Kit List
Please see below for our recommended kit list for the challenge, but please remember to choose the most comfortable and practical equipment. Before you pack, ask yourself if the equipment is not too heavy, really waterproof, and, most importantly, the right size.
CLOTHING
Waterproof jacket & trousers - ‘waterproof’, not ‘water-resistant’.
Walking trousers - not jeans.
Walking boots & socks, used before so you know they are comfortable (please pack spare socks in your hiking bag)
Technical base layer & warm fleece/jumper - not a cotton sweatshirt.
Warm hat & gloves - a neck-buff is useful.
Spare warm layer - keep in your pack in a dry bag.
Comfortable clothing for the evening and sleeping in.
PERSONAL EQUIPMENT
Rucksack/backpack - 30 litres capacity is ideal.
Warm hat & gloves - a neck-buff is also useful.
Water bottle/s - 2-3 litres for this longer walk.
Personal first aid kit - personal medication, blister plasters & pain killers.
Head torch - do pack spare batteries.
Sunscreen and foldable sun hat/cap that you can put into your rucksack.
Walking poles and flask for hot drinks (not essential).
OTHER ITEMS
Energy snacks - slow energy release granola bars and jelly beans are good.
Toiletries.
Dry bags for keeping items dry. Plastic bags are ok.
Photo identification - Driving License/Other piece of identification.
Mobile phone and charger.
Travel Insurance plus any personal insurance you may need.
Credit or Debit card and a small amount of cash for food and drinks at the cafe and/or pub.
